The lost quest of Alexandra the Axolotl!
We did it! We coded our game! Sort of... We started this game with a big motive and HUGE initiative! We had so many plans and ideas for our game! But, everything didn't go as planned. Our original idea was to have Alex (Alexandra), go through a lot of hard obstacles like dodging trash, escaping an army of Tilapia fish, trading with a wise old toad, and battling a huge, big boss Tilapia fish! As you can see, we had very high hopes and expectations for this game. We tried as much as we could, but it just wasn't possible to complete this whole entire game in less than 7 months! BUT!!! We refused to give up! Yes, we had to make several modifications to our original game, but we accommodated and adjusted! First, we had to scale down our obstacles by a lot! We decided to only have the falling trash, and the boss battle. That being said, we still had to make modifications! We wanted to have the boss battle be that Alex finds her parents trapped and she saves them, but sadly we had to abandon that idea as well. Now I know what you're thinking, "What kind of game is that then? It has nothing except some falling trash!" Yes, you are right! It may seem like a very small incomplete game when you first look at it and play it, but behind the scenes, so much work goes into just a menu and some falling trash. Coding is like a theatrical play. When you first watch the play, it looks very well put together, and looks so easy you think even you could do it! But when you look behind the scenes and see how much work and dedication really goes into it, it seems like the hardest thing on earth! Same with coding. You have to create a whole entire storyboard, create a game with code, and make thousands of modifications! Now, you may be thinking, "I never want to do coding again! It seems so hard!" But, the struggle of it is what makes it really fun! I am so proud of the work that our team has accomplished, and can't wait to keep on coding! Let's go Axolotls!
P.S-
If anyone after they have read this feels like they want to do coding, The whole Axolotl studios team encourages you to just go for it! There's a whole world of sprites, assets, and code out there just waiting to be discovered! So don't waste even a minute thinking about it, get out there and show the world how great of a coder you are!
